Climate Change

This project has allowed me to experience the beauty of the Divis and Black Mountain over the years and to experience the various weather conditions it has to offer. But it wasn't until I was scrolling through the photos Ive taken looking for the candidates for the February release, that I notice the stark difference in weather between the Feb photos of 2020 and those of 2024. In 2020, it was freezing cold, snow on the ground and the walk up the mountain involved heavy boots, layers of cold and all the winter warmer accessories one could tolerate. Fast forward 4 years and the frogs are in full spawning mood, the snow is gone and there is a 13 degree swing in the temperature. Only time will tell if this is the pattern to come and if we are evidencing climate change or not but the differences are stark! Hopefully, you enjoy the photos. In March, there no doubt will be an appearance form our amphibian friends once again, as that's when you normally see them spawning. I hope the weather holds out and that a sudden cold spell doesn't destroy lots of the spawn!
